We are still in the middle summer. In other words, we have just welcomed summer, meaning we need to be tolerate this hot weather for the next few months.
I am not good at living in the hot weather and always complain about how hot is it in Japan. However, summer is not so bad at all when it comes to colorful vegetables. When going to supermarkets and farmer's markets, you can see abundant vegetables and fruits in cute and vivid colors. Sweet corn can be one of representative vegetables in summer. Yakuzen suggests that this vegetable in yellow with many external layers outside is easy to prepare and intake good nutrition in summer.
In yakuzen, sweet corns is effective to supply nutrition in summer. It contains protein, good fat, fiber, and carbohydrate in the excellent balance. As sweet corn can increase the coefficient of digestibility, we should consume it when we lose appetite, can't get rid of fatigue, have upset stomach, and feel blue. It also can cool down the body heat, and get rid of excessive water from the body system.
One of my favorite yakuzen recipes are: Sweet corn with pearl barley rice. Simply cook rice and peral barley together adn mix well before serving. This yakuzen recipe may help you to increase your appetite.
In my case, even in the hot weather, I have never lost my appetite for any kind of food. For me, sweet corn is a nutritious snack between meals. When my baby grows little bigger, I would give sweet corn as his munching snack.
